The "Miss Piggy"

I'll try to keep this short.  This Canoe is a Flat back aluminum canoe made by Northrop Grumman in 1950.  My father saw it one day coming home from work sitting on the side of the road.  It was for sale and colored yellow at the time.  He purchased it when i was 12 years old.  He painted it red and named it the "Miss Piggy".

 

Back then the Muppets were a really popular TV show and the strong willed Miss Piggy was her favorite character.  It turns out that Miss Piggy was also Shannon's favorite at the time.  Later in life she even had a pet pig named "Pig Pig".

When my father passed, I was 20 at the time, my Uncle Bob (his brother) purchased the canoe from my mom and kept it for nearly 30 years.  When he found out that I was moving to the south he gave it back to me.  I painted it again and Shannon and I decided that "Miss Piggy" should be brought back, this time in my fathers own hand writing.

I scanned the letter he wrote about his plane crash and pulled out the letters I needed to make a stencil and so the "Miss Piggy" renewed and signed by "Skip".
